System
This is a system aimed to generate superb research results by researchers in private companies and research and education staff of NINS implementing researches collectively on an equal footing, based on a contracts with a common theme.

Flow of procedure
Joint research should be applied from the head of the private company to the head of Institutions using the Joint Research Application Form. After the application, a Notification of Acceptance is delivered to the head of the private company, and both parties shall enter the joint research contract.
Research fee for researchers dispatched to NINS (joint researcher) is 420,000 yen per year for one researcher, and is 210,000 yen for researches within six months. Also, private companies are requested to pay research expenses (research fee) according to the invoice documents issued by NINS.

Handling of research results
If any joint inventions are produced by the research and education staff of NINS and joint researchers as a result of joint research, ownership share of rights when the invention is patented shall be decided through discussions between NINS and the private company, and patents for inventions should be applied as a jointly-owned patent, etc.
Jointly-owned patents, etc., can be used on a priority basis for a certain period by the private company and those appointed by the private company. The period can also be extended upon discussion.
