The Center of an International Research Community
The inter-university research institute is a distinctive world-class academic research organization.
To the researchers who make up the academic community, intellectual pursuits have no national boundaries. In pursuing the ultimate goal of academia, the research community, all of whom share a liberal spirit and common appreciation of their chosen studies, has established the inter-university research institute. As a facility where they can carry out research, conduct in-depth studies, and expand their discussions, the inter-university research institute serves as a Center of Excellence unique to Japan and wholly managed by the research community.
In the past and continuing on into the future, through the inter-university research institute structure, archetypical research and studies that are international in scope are open to the world. The “International Strategy Headquarters”, which NINS established in 2004, is responsible for supporting these dynamic activities.
In addition, the NINS has adopted and actively participates in the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)’s “Strategic Fund for Establishing International Headquarters Universitie” (2005-2010).
