Cooperation in Graduate School Education
As the base institution for graduate school education in the Graduate University for Advanced Studies, NINS provides the following courses: Astronomy in the Graduate Course for Physical Science for the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan; Fusion Science for the Graduate Course for Physical Science in the National Institute for Fusion Science; Basic Biology for the Graduate Course for Bioscience in the National Institute for Basic Biology; Physiological Science for the same graduate course in the National Institute for Physiological Sciences; and Structural Molecular Science and Functional Molecular Science for the Graduate Course for Physical Science in the Institute for Molecular Science. Instructors at each Institute have several positions. For instance, a professor at the Institute for Molecular Science can concurrently be a professor at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies, and participate in research at the Institute while being in charge of graduate school education at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies.

What is the Graduate University for Advanced Studies?
The Graduate University for Advanced Studies was established in 1988 as the first graduate university in Japan, with the aim of fostering far-sighted, international and creative research, and to explore and promote creative academic researches that go beyond the conventional borders of academic fields by utilizing inter-university research institutes such as NINS.
