The 2022 Project open call for participants has started (until August 31st)
Purpose of business
Plasma, which is the fourth state of matter, is a state in which ionization occurs and neutral molecules and electrons are mixed and activated. There are two types of plasma: plasma with high particle temperature (high temperature plasma) and plasma with low temperature. High-temperature plasma is used for fusion technology, and low-temperature plasma is attracting attention in the industrial world due to its high versatility, ease of handling, and low cost of equipment, and is used for semiconductor technology, sterilization, and disinfection. increase.
In recent years, attempts to apply low-temperature plasma to the fields of life science and medical care have been promoted worldwide, and in Japan from 2012 (Heisei 24) to 2016 (Heisei 28), the title was "Creation of Plasma Medical Science". A new academic field has been established, and the research field is progressing from the germination stage to the development stage. However, the basic research on the Section low-temperature plasma and the components of living organisms has not been sufficiently conducted, and the current situation is that remarkable progress has not been made in terms of application. In June 2018, Nagoya University, Kyushu University, and the National Institutes of Natural Sciences jointly established the Plasma Bioconsortium with the aim of further disseminating and promoting plasma biology in Japan (Tohoku University from 2020, 2022). From then on, Gifu Pharmaceutical University also participated). At the Plasma Bio-Consortium, participating institutions are engaged in medical research such as selective cell death induction of cancer cells and promotion of wound healing, and agricultural research such as promotion of plant growth and creation of functional plants. We are promoting research activities that lead the way, but with the aim of further expanding the base of plasma biology, not only "applied research" that actively applies and utilizes low-temperature plasma technology to life sciences and medicine, but also the basics of them. We are soliciting proposals for "basic research" Project that pursue science.
Call for Project Proposals
Program
- Joint research
A challenging sprouting research and applied research that pursues the basic theory of biological effects of low temperature plasma based on a new field fusion idea. Identification of molecular species that are generated by plasma irradiation and have an effect on living organisms, identification of target molecules of active molecular species, elucidation of molecular and cellular mechanisms of biological effects, development of stable plasma generator suitable for biological systems, and irradiation We expect research promotion such as examination of appropriate conditions.
- Study Grou
Low-temperature plasma and the living body of mutual institutions based on new interdisciplinary way of thinking Section is the Study Group to pursue the basic theories of the phenomenon seen in.
Research implementation system
Research representatives, Project to the entire Section and has a Ru responsibility, you have a person responsible in the execution of research expenses.
After the adoption, National Institutes of Natural Sciences(contract research agreement with the research institutions with which the research leader is affiliated with the National Institutes of Natural Sciences except for the research institutions that belong to.) Entered into, of the responsibility of the research leaders and organization research institutions Under the joint research and study group. Please make a research plan after fully understanding the purpose of this Project before applying.
- Joint research
The research will be conducted by the research representative applying for this Project and the collaborative researcher who cooperates with the research. It is expected that research will be promoted by collaboration between science and engineering researchers who handle plasma generators and life sciences researchers who are used to handling animals and plants.
- Study Group
Research symposium to explore pioneering and challenging researches that lead to novel applications of optical methods and development of new technologies based on the inter-disciplinary concepts.
