The National Institutes of Natural Sciences (NINS) is an inter-university research institute corporation composed of five inter-university research institutes--the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, the National Institute for Fusion Science, the National Institute for Basic Biology, the National Institute for Physiological Sciences, and the Institute for Molecular Science--as well as two centers directly operated by NINS: the Astrobiology Center and the Exploratory Research Center on Life and Living Systems. Based on the collective consensus of the research community, NINS strives to enhance its roles and functions while vigorously promoting cutting-edge research.

At NINS, we are committed not only to eliminating waste and establishing rational and efficient operational processes, but also to strengthening our financial foundation through research activities such as commissioned research. However, in order to further advance our research, it is essential to reinforce the financial base that supports reform and to diversify funding sources.

We sincerely ask for your continued generous support.

President, National Institutes of Natural Sciences
Maki KAWAI
